Portable fashion films

Today marks the start of the 2010 Portable Film Festival, which runs until Dec. 19. Now in its fifth year, the festival aims to bring you the best in online video content in categories including documentary, art, animation and music. But of particular interest to Miss Prescott is the inclusion of a fashion films category. There are 12 fashion shorts in total, from Australian and international labels (see full listing below). Of course, the great thing is that you, the viewer, can vote on your favourite films. See http://portable.tv/film-festival and get clicking! (BYO Maltesers.)

Vanessa Bruno’s earthy atmospherics are heightened by an appearance and song from It girl Lou Doillon (who plays acoustic air guitar rather convincingly) while ManiaMania jewellery is featured in the film Dust by Fiona McGee, which features model-of-the-moment Bambi Northwood-Blyth (who handles a real guitar less convincingly).

Harmony Korine’s effort for Proenza Schouler is a typically gritty suburban tone poem, while Rodarte turned to Todd Cole for his Kubrick-inspired vision of their Spring 2010 collection.

For stilettos (and semi-automatics) at 20 paces, check out Suzie Q + Léo Siboni’s post-prom stealth fest, Pursuit (below). Hit girls never looked so fierce.
